Projects supported by the Narooma Lions Club
Over the past twelve months, Narooma Lions Club has provided much-needed support to several other organisations providing vital services in our community.

Support to rural fire services
We have provided funds to the rural fire services of Central Tilba, Narooma and Dalmeny so those organisations could purchase essential equipment that, in turn, will help their members protect lives and property in the Narooma area.

Narooma Surf Lifesaving Club
Over the past seventeen years, the Narooma Surf Lifesaving rubber duckie has saved possibly hundreds of lives in the sometimes-treacherous surf conditions along the south coast.

Lions Preschool Scholarship
In 2008 Narooma Lions Club will be offering a Lions Preschool Scholarship to Narooma Preschool. This will enable a four-year-old child who would otherwise miss out on that all-important year of preschool before starting school to attend.
Nominations are currently being sought through local early childhood professionals.

Narooma - Dalmeny Cycleway project
During 2006, Narooma Lions Club contributed to the Narooma - Dalmeny cycleway project, a six-kilometre dedicated cycleway linking the two towns and traversing magnificent coastal scenery. When completed, we believe this will be one of the most scenic cycleways in Australia. The cycleway will also provide a facility for the fitness and health of residents.

Narooma Cemetery Pavilion Project

Sound System in the Primary School
Through the Lions Hearing Foundation, we have installed a sound system in the Narooma Primary School to give hearing-impaired students the same opportunities to learn as every other student.

Narooma Lions Club supports local organisations to run year-round events by the use of our mobile barbecue. We also provide members to assist at many such events.

The Narooma Lions Club assists with the running of the Indigenous Sports Day.

We Help at the Illawarra Retirement Trust's annual fete.

We will be helping at the Anglican Church fair, the Australia Day Special Olympics, the swim club. the Narooma Public School, and the Narooma Lions AFL Club sports days.

We assist CanAssist with their program to provide urgently needed funds to those suffering from cancer, and to their immediate family.

We contribute to the essential work provided by Snowy Hydro CareFlight helicopter service.

We help the Rural Fire Service to raise funds so they can buy essential equipment so they can serve their community in times of emergencies.

Narooma Lions contributes to fundraising events at local schools, and at sporting events,.

We contribute to the Macular Degeneration Program to preserve sight.

In conjunction with the Lions Foundation, the Narooma Lions Club has made a generous donation to the Queensland and Victorian Flood Appeals.

We are part of the joint Community Service Organisations to provide long-term relief program to those affected by the floods across much of Australia.

In conjunction with the New South Wales Cancer Council and the Lions Australia Foundation, we are running an extensive Prostate Cancer Awareness Program in the local area.

Through the Lions Organisation, we have contributed to the Pakistan Flood Appeal.

We are part of the Glasses Recycling Program. We collect glasses that are no longer needed and send them to Queensland for sorting. They are then distributed to third-world countries through the Fred Hollows Foundation.
